# Community Guidelines | AngelFur

Policy version: 3.1 Effective date: August 27, 2026 Last updated: August 27, 2026

Plain-language summary

AngelFur is a compassionate place to remember animals. Content should honour that purpose and respect the privacy, safety, grief, dignity, and rights of others.

The central rules are:

Memorials must concern animals and be created by an owner, authorized person, lawful caregiver, foster provider, or authorized organization.

Compassionate discussion of grief, treatment, euthanasia, religion, and afterlife beliefs is welcome.

Tasteful photographs of a deceased animal may be allowed, but graphic injury, surgery, euthanasia, cruelty, or post-mortem imagery is prohibited.

Do not harass, threaten, discriminate, defame, expose private information, impersonate others, solicit money, advertise, spam, or post malicious links.

Neutral or positive references to veterinarians and other providers are permitted. AngelFur is not a review or dispute forum.

All condolences require memorial-owner approval before publication.

Realistic generated media must be disclosed when it could be mistaken for authentic material, and identifiable people or voices require appropriate permission.

AngelFur may remove content that conflicts with the compassionate purpose of the Service even when the content may otherwise be lawful.

1. Purpose

These Community Guidelines apply to memorials, photographs, captions, condolences, generated media, usernames, reports, links, and other content submitted through AngelFur.

They are designed to protect a respectful animal-remembrance community. They do not cover every possible situation. AngelFur may use reasonable judgment to address conduct that undermines the Service's compassionate purpose, safety, or integrity.

These Guidelines work together with the Terms of Use. The Terms of Use govern your account, contractual rights, and the legal relationship between you and AngelFur; these Guidelines govern what content is acceptable to post.

2. Age and authority

You must be at least 18 to create an account, create a memorial, submit a condolence, or request generated media. See Terms of Use Section 3 for the full eligibility rule, including the exception for reports submitted by a person under 18.

An organization account must be controlled by an authorized adult representative. You may not misrepresent authority to act for another person, organization, estate, shelter, rescue, clinic, or animal owner.

3. Memorial eligibility and ownership

Memorials must concern animals, not people. Companion, working, farm, rescue, shelter, wildlife, and other animals may be memorialized where there is a genuine personal or organizational connection.

Do not create duplicate, deceptive, retaliatory, fictional, or unauthorized memorials.

For the account-holder authority requirements to create a memorial (ownership, custody, organizational authorization, evidence AngelFur may request), see Terms of Use Section 6.

4. Compassionate and relevant content

Content should relate to animal remembrance, grief, caregiving, life stories, or a relevant community interaction.

Compassionate discussion of grief, mental health, veterinary treatment, euthanasia, religious belief, the Rainbow Bridge, and other afterlife beliefs is permitted. Differences in belief must be expressed respectfully.

Unrelated political campaigning, ideological recruitment, repetitive controversy, and content primarily intended to provoke or derail the memorial purpose are prohibited.

5. Photographs and disturbing content

Tasteful photographs of a deceased animal may be permitted when presented with care and without graphic detail.

Do not post graphic injury, surgery, euthanasia procedures, cruelty, blood, exposed tissue, decomposition, or other disturbing post-mortem imagery. AngelFur may remove content that is likely to shock, exploit grief, or cause unnecessary distress.

6. Veterinarians, breeders, shelters, and other providers

Neutral or positive factual references to veterinarians, clinics, breeders, shelters, rescues, cemeteries, and other providers are permitted when relevant to the animal or memorial.

AngelFur is not intended to operate as a business-review, professional-complaint, or dispute forum. Memorials and condolences must not be used primarily to pursue a dispute or publish allegations of negligence, abuse, fraud, malpractice, professional misconduct, or criminal behaviour against a provider or person.

AngelFur may remove or restrict allegations or dispute content, particularly where the material is unverified, inflammatory, unrelated to remembrance, exposes unnecessary personal information, or creates a legal, privacy, safety, or harassment concern.

This rule does not prevent a person from making a truthful good-faith report through AngelFur's reporting tools or from contacting an appropriate regulator, professional body, law-enforcement agency, court, insurer, or other authority.

7. Privacy and personal information

Do not expose another person's private or highly sensitive information, including home address, personal telephone number, government identifier, financial information, login information, private correspondence, or precise location.

Obtain appropriate permission before posting identifiable people, children, voices, names, relationships, or private stories. Do not encourage harassment or unwanted contact.

8. Harassment, threats, hate, and discrimination

Do not harass, bully, stalk, shame, threaten, intimidate, or encourage others to target a person or group.

Hateful or discriminatory content based on race, colour, ancestry, nationality, citizenship, ethnic origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, marital status, or another protected or comparable characteristic is prohibited.

Credible threats may be preserved and referred to authorities.

9. Sexual content and exploitation

Pornographic, sexually explicit, fetishistic, or exploitative content is prohibited. Content that sexualizes minors or animals is strictly prohibited and may be reported to authorities.

10. Animal cruelty and abuse

Do not glorify, encourage, instruct, celebrate, or organize animal abuse, neglect, fighting, poisoning, abandonment, or other cruelty.

Educational or grief-related references may be allowed when non-graphic, relevant, and handled responsibly. AngelFur may preserve and report credible evidence of ongoing abuse or imminent harm.

11. Defamation, false claims, and manipulation

Do not knowingly post false, misleading, defamatory, or unsubstantiated allegations about a person or organization. Do not fabricate causes of death, treatment histories, endorsements, statements, or evidence.

Do not manipulate grief, impersonate a survivor, or falsely claim ownership, authority, professional credentials, or affiliation.

12. Copyright, privacy, and other rights

Submit only content you own or have permission to use. Obtain appropriate consent from identifiable people shown or heard. Do not post material that violates copyright, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, trademark, or other rights.

Copyright complaints may be submitted through the Contact Us form by selecting Copyright.

13. Impersonation, fraud, and account integrity

Do not impersonate another person, memorial owner, organization, administrator, veterinarian, or service provider. Do not use false accounts, stolen credentials, deceptive identities, or multiple accounts to evade restrictions.

Fraud, phishing, scams, fabricated endorsements, credential theft, and deceptive requests for money or information are prohibited.

14. Spam, advertising, fundraising, and links

Do not advertise products or services, solicit customers, post affiliate promotions, campaign for donations, request money, or use memorials and condolences for commercial outreach.

A relevant, non-commercial external link may be allowed after moderation. Shortened, obfuscated, tracking, affiliate, fundraising, promotional, download, malware, or suspicious links are prohibited. AngelFur may disable a link without removing the surrounding content.

15. Condolences

Every condolence begins pending and becomes public only if the memorial owner approves it. The owner may approve or reject a condolence for any reason, even when it does not otherwise violate these Guidelines.

Condolences must be respectful, relevant, and non-commercial, and follow the link rules in Section 14. Do not pressure the owner, reopen disputes, demand a response, or use condolences to contact other visitors.

AngelFur may independently reject, remove, preserve, or restrict a condolence for moderation, legal, safety, or security reasons.

For the contractual mechanics of condolence approval (pending-state expiry, owner discretion as a matter of the Terms), see Terms of Use Section 12.

16. Generated and altered media

You must have the rights, authority, and consent required for content used in generated or transformed media.

Realistic face animation, voice cloning, or impersonation requires heightened, person-specific permission. A request involving a deceased person requires appropriate authority from an estate or lawful representative.

Generated or materially altered content must be disclosed when it could reasonably be mistaken for an authentic photograph, recording, statement, event, or endorsement. Deceptive impersonation and fabricated depictions of abuse, treatment, cause of death, or another person's conduct are prohibited.

For the contractual mechanics of generated-media features (processing, consent withdrawal, provider handling), see Terms of Use Section 13.

17. Grief, mental health, self-harm, and crisis content

Compassionate discussion of grief, depression, bereavement, and personal struggles is permitted.

Do not post encouragement, instruction, glorification, or challenges involving suicide or self-harm; graphic self-harm imagery; threats of self-harm used to coerce another person; or content that targets or exploits vulnerable people.

AngelFur may remove or restrict concerning content, preserve relevant information, and contact emergency services or authorities where it reasonably identifies a credible and imminent risk. AngelFur does not continuously monitor all content and cannot guarantee intervention.

18. Reports and good-faith use

Anyone may submit a content or safety report through AngelFur's reporting tools or the Contact Us form by selecting Abuse.

Reports must be truthful and submitted in good faith. AngelFur may require email verification, supporting information, or clarification and may apply rate limits and spam controls.

Do not file knowingly false, retaliatory, repetitive, or abusive reports.

19. Moderation actions

AngelFur may reject pending content, remove approved content, disable links, hide a memorial, limit account functions, issue a warning, suspend or terminate an account, preserve content and evidence during an investigation, and refer credible threats or suspected illegal activity to authorities.

The full moderation procedure — progressive enforcement, automated holds versus final adverse actions, and human-review requirements — is set out in Terms of Use Section 17, which governs.

20. Notice and appeals

AngelFur will generally notify the affected user of a moderation decision unless notice would create a legal, safety, security, or investigative risk.

The appeals process — deadlines, response targets, and when a second appeal may be considered — is set out in Terms of Use Section 18, which governs.

21. Memorials after suspension or termination

During a temporary suspension, memorials may remain visible unless related to the violation, risk, or investigation. AngelFur may temporarily hide a memorial while the matter is reviewed.

The full account/memorial handling rules after suspension or termination — including the non-public recovery period and notice to the account holder — are set out in Terms of Use Section 21, which governs.

22. Changes and contact

Material changes to these Guidelines will be communicated by email and an in-service notice, with reasonable advance notice where practicable. Renewed acceptance may be required for material changes.

AngelFur may preserve prior versions of these Guidelines and records showing which version applied to a user or content submission.
